Sit 'N Stay's Good Licks
Here are some cat and dog treat recipes that are yummy!
Dog Treats:
PEANUT BUTTER-CHEERIOS TREATS
1cup peanut butter(creamy or chunky)
4 cups cheerios
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 large eggs
1/4 cup nonfat dry milk (skim milk powder)
1 tbsp. molasses
1/4 cup warm water
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Warm the peanut butter in the microwave for a minute or so, until it's soft enough to mix easily with the other ingredients.
- Add the other ingredients to the warm peanut butter, mixing thoroughly. The dough will be stiff and crumbly.
- Use your hands to spread the dough onto a large greased cookie sheet. If the dough is sticky, grease or flour your fingers. Cover the cookie sheet with a layer no more than two cheerios thick.
- Bake for 10 minutes. Take the cookie sheet out of the oven and, with a spatula, turn over the dough, pieces at a time. Put back in the oven for another 5 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and break the large pieces into bite-size pieces.
- Turn off the oven. Put all the cookies back on the cookie sheet and return them to the oven. Leave them in the cooling oven for 15 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let cool thoroughly, and store in an airtight container.

1/4 cup evaporated lowfat milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, mix together all the ingredients. Knead with your hands until the dough is smooth and easy to work with.
- Form the dough into a ball and place it on a floured breadboard. Roll it out to 1/4 inch thick.
- Use a 3 inch dog bone-shaped cookie cutter to cut the rolled dough into shapes.
- Place the cookies onto greased cookie sheets.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until the bottoms of the cookies are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let cool thoroughly, and store in an airtight container.
Note: for crispier treats, when all the cookies have been baked, turn off the oven. Put all the cookies back on the cookie sheet and return them to the oven. Leave them in the cooling oven for several hours or overnight to harden.

FLAXSEED CATNIP TREATS - makes 100 1/4 tsp. sized treats
Flaxseed meal gives cat treats a nutty flavour that most cats really enjoy. When it's paired with catnip............well, let's just say these treats are eaten eagerly!
1-1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1/3 cup nonfat dry milk (skim milk powder)
1 tbsp. flaxseed meal
1 large egg
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1/3 cup goat's milk
1/4 cup dried catnip
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a mixing bowl, mix together the first three ingredients.
- Add the remaining ingredients, mixing well.
- If the dough is too stiff to mix well with a spoon, flour your hands so you can handle the dough without it sticking and knead it.
- Using a spoon, scoop up 1/4 teaspoon-sized bits of the dough. Form each scoop into a small ball and place on a greased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until the bottoms of the treats are golden brown. Flip the treats and bake for a few more minutes or until the treats are golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from the oven, let cool thoroughly, and store in an airtight container.
